003 GANDHIJI'S VIEWS ON ATTENDING LIQUOR PARTIES

Gandhiji abstained from liquor. A gentleman questioned him on what is to be done by a abstaining person is invited to a party where liquor is served. Gandhiji answered this question in Navjivan magazine, issue dated 22nd March 1925. It is available in Volume 31 of Complete Works of Mahatma Gandhi.

Today, it is difficult to find teetotallers. I request the readers whether they are teetotallers or not, to have a look at Gandhiji's reply, which is very balanced and not dominating.

  1. I remember a book came out titled "Gandhiji and his women associates". Can you post anything interesting from that book? There is serious doubts about his vow of bramacharya. Any illicit relationships that he had? People should know the other side of such person.
